The book looks beautiful!! Well, I didn’t grow up with the concept of celebrating the holidays due to my parents’ religion but I’ve grown to love infusing the season with my own kind of magic. I love how, if we take the time, we can focus on the beauty of the season, the snow, the decorations, the lights. It doesn’t have to be about the commercialism, it can be about friends, family and joy.

People recover from their ‘spiritual amnesia’ in which they may have gotten lost the rest of the year and remember that we really ARE love incarnate. They smile more readily, are more generous with their hearts and reach out to others. I also love watching my (3 year old) surrogate grandson get excited about presents. Many blessings to you, Joyce <3

My favorite thing is getting to share with my family and friends. This times make it hard for us to spend some quality time with all the family. Its a good thing we get this time to have dinner and a good time with the people we love.

Love your adorable sweet board book! Your illustrations made me smile. What I cherish most about the holidays is being able to spend more quality time with family and friends.

My favorite thing about the holidays is that happy fun vibe in the air. People seem more joyful than usual. I just love going out and about and seeing all the decorations, lights and people with a little more pep in their step.

I LOVE your books & sharing them with my daughter. The new book is definitely on our Christmas list! My favorite thing about the holiday season is spending time with my family. We had our baby on New Year’s Day this year so we are super excited for her first holiday followed quickly by her first birthday!

Hi!! First off I love your books! I have a nine month old and she loves when I read You Are My Cupcake to her. My favorite thing about the holiday season is giving gifts, baking tasty desserts, looking at lights… pretty much everything about it lol. It really is the most wonderful time of the year!
Mandee L. on January 5, 2015 15:42
So excited for the new book. My 14 month old and I love to read “You Are My Cupcake!” He loves your pumpkin picture!
My favorite thing about the holidays is decorating my house and the tree with my family. The holidays help me remember that even on the toughest day, I do it for my children and husband. We only get so many days and must enjoy each of them. Have a wonderful holiday season Joyce!

My favorite thing about this holiday season is getting to watch my daughter go through it! She’s 14 months so all of the family time is right up her alley (and I’m sure the presents will be too.)

Your books look adorable!
My favorite thing about the holidays are definitely spending time with family and friends and having an excuse to eat delicious holiday treats. ;)

How are there not 100 comments on this post?
This book looks ADORABLE.
I met you at SCBWI LA this year and was seriously like, “Oh my gosh it’s JOYCE WAN!” when I was talking to you. I love your style and your books. Both are very joyful :)
My favorite thing around the holidays is my family’s tradition of wrapping presents in other boxes. For example, my mom (the number one culprit) will buy us a box of animal crackers or something, and then there will be another box that has something in it besides animal crackers. So really, you have no way of knowing if you’re going to get what’s actually inside the box. It fooled us a lot when we were younger, but now we’re all late 20s, early 30s.
But we still crack up and try to trick each other.
Each time we get something in a box, we say,
“Don’t let the box fool ya!”
and we giggle like we’re kids again!

I have always loved your illustrations – my daughter and I enjoy them. (and I’m way past 55 and she is way past 25!) Love the New Book ideas! Love the Holidays because its a special time of faith with my family and keeping up our family traditions and the traditional FOOD – Esp Korean New Years Eve!

It sounds horrible but I really loved Christmas for getting presents. But now that I have kids it’s so nice to get them something special and reflect on the year. It’s soo sappy but I love it.
I also love your work!! Keep it up.

Happy book birthday!!! So cute. I love seeing the holidays reflected through my little one’s eyes – they get SO excited about every little element.
