Fall is in the Air: Festivals & Free Printables October 20, 2013 01:46

I love fall time. There's just this cozy feeling that fills the air. For me, it always brings back fond childhood memories in New England of picking apples, carving pumpkins, and watching the leaves change into a kaleidoscope of glorious colors. I also get excited about fall flavors especially the return of every pumpkin-flavored food, drink, and treat you can imagine. By the way, have any of you tried the pumpkin smoothie at Jamba Juice? With fall also comes book festivals galore! I participated in two this year—the Princeton Children's Book Festival and the Brooklyn Book Festival. Thanks to those of you who stopped by to say hello. I can't tell you how much I love meeting all the kids and their parents! At the Brooklyn Book Festival I even took silly drawing requests from the kids on the Children's Stage in a 'Draw-Off' with fellow author and illustrator David Ezra Stein. We had a blast fielding such requests as "a TV with spikes" and a "dragon made of candy in a garden with a rainbow". I just love the way kids' minds work. Yes, a young girl even asked me to sign her pants. How cute is that? For the festivals, I created two new learn-how-to-draw printables based on my latest books Frog & Friends and Owl & Friends and figured I'd upload them here for your budding little artist as well!
