Joyce Wan designed her first greeting card when she was in grade school for a city-wide greeting card design contest sponsored by the Art Institute of Boston. The design won first place and was subsequently sold through a major department store chain.

Twenty years later, Joyce turned that early success into inspiration to launch her illustration and design studio Wanart with an initial focus on greeting cards and gift products. Inspired by Asian culture both traditional and popular, Joyce’s bold, clean lines and fresh color palette combined with an irresistible charm have captured the hearts of people far and wide.

As the popularity of Wanart designs grew, so did its product line and services. In recent years, Joyce has partnered with companies to license her designs on various product lines under such brands as Kiwi and Pear.

Today, products featuring Joyce’s designs can be found at thousands of boutiques, museum shops and gift stores worldwide. She also teaches courses on the business of greeting card design and art licensing at the School of Visual Arts.

Joyce’s debut children’s picture book Greetings from Kiwi and Pear (Blue Apple Books) which is based on characters from one of her best-selling greeting card lines was released in 2009. This book has led to the recent releases of Kiwi and Pear’s World Adventure (Zephyr Games), an interactive storybook app and Kiwi and Pear’s Balloon Adventure game for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Her two latest books You Are My Cupcake and We Belong Together were published by Cartwheel / Scholastic in Fall of 2011. “We Belong Together” was 1 of 150 books recently selected out of 600 entries nationwide to be featured in the Society of Illustrators 2011 Original Art Show, an exhibit which showcases the year’s best children’s books.

Through her work, Joyce hopes to inspire people to embrace the spirit of childhood and follow their dreams.
